  1. The bottom line is that neither Josh nor Bethany are “terminal” or “near the edge of death” anymore. Why? Because Kate has no access to them.

  2. I cannot believe that they cannot just LOOK at Joshua!!! In that video, he is running around. Kate had him wheelchair bound! He looks like a “normal” boy. It literally took my breath away! How can a judge not see that????

  3. Trial is still a go on the other charges. Set to start February 29th… arrangements for witnesses are being made now. She will be held accountable for her actions.

  4. I’m not sure if there is any truth to this but according to her husband all charges have been dropped. He believes that she is coming home tomorrow. I really hope this is a lie. Those poor children.

  5. She plead GUILTY and got a deal. Will be on child abuse Registry and got time served/5 years probation. She will be able to be at home, but not alone with the kids. And they WILL be watching…and neighbors should watching..and her church should be watching…and those of us who know her to a COMPLETE FRAUD will be watching…… I hope she learned her lesson, but I’m a cynic and don’t believe she has learned anything. I think she’ll be back on the internet spouting lies within the week. I will be watching..

      The Medill Justice Project

INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH HEADING TO GRANTS PASS, Ore.–Kate Parker has pleaded no contest to three misdemeanor counts, The Medill Justice Project has learned. The stay-at-home mother of eight was initially charged with 43 counts and faced up to more than 30 years in prison. As part of the settlement, Parker will be on probation for five years. Parker is rushing home now after 99 weeks, including six months in jail, of no contact with her family under court supervision. Parker is visiting her family but can’t move permanently until her probation is transferred from Multnomah County to Josephine County where she lives. Prosecutors agreed to the settlement with Parker’s attorneys weeks after The Medill Justice Project’s investigation of her case.

  6. Not quite as biased report with slightly different information:

From the Portland Tribune: “…In all, 14 counts were dropped, including the most serious ones.
Under the deal, Parker pleaded no contest to five charges, including three misdemeanors for which she agreed to five years of probation, including criminal mistreatment, reckless endangerment.
Parker also pleaded no contest to counts of felony criminal mistreatment, but those will be deferred for two years. At that point one will be dismissed and the other reduced to a misdemeanor, assuming she complies with probation.”

  7. my stomach hurts. seriously omg. Look at the new pictures of Joshua. He looks AMAZING. And now they are letting her back into his life. Plus Adam and his family still live there? God please watch out for their little one and Joshua. How could this happen?

  8. Dear blogger: I tried to contact you with the email that was listed in the “ABOUT” page, but it came back undelivered.
So I decided to post my email here hoping you would see it and contact me. Thank you!

I have read a lot online about this topic and case. Since you knew this mom personally and watched what was happening, I wondered if you could answer a few questions to help me make a decision.

At first I didn’t think this was a “real thing”. My son and daughter in law have 3 children and have another baby on the way. The 2 youngest are twins (5 y/old) and have been diagnosed with a lot of different things that I can’t spell, and some I can’t even pronounce. I used to live in a different state, but moved here to be closer to my grandchildren because of their serious medical issues.

I actually started researching Munchausen Syndrome because a close friend of my daughter-in-law told me in confidence that she was worried about the twins. During my research I found your blog and then read more about the woman from Grants Pass. I don’t know if this website is still active, but since the case was recent, I wanted to contact someone who knows about this situation who is not a doctor or the police because I am seriously worried about all of my grandchildren.

I do not want to cause trouble for my son and his family, but I love the babies and need to protect them. If you would be willing to answer some basic questions to help me decide what to do,or could refer me to someone who might be able to help, I would be so grateful. You can email me at

    Thank you!
